The writing prompt for this piece was the word Off.
Off and On
You know if it’s off, you just have to turn it on.
Sometimes you have to. I mean, lights, who likes to walk into a dark room?
If she’s sleeping, that might be a problem.
How do you cook when the stove or oven is not on?
You make gazpacho, of course.
That grass ain’t gonna’ grow if the sprinklers aren’t running.
Isn’t that what rain is for?
It’s not like the car can run itself when you want to go somewhere.
Try walking or using a bike. You’ll be much healthier.
How do you watch the news without the TV on?
Try newspapers, and, better yet, avoid watching the news altogether. It will improve your mental health.
How do I find out things if I can’t turn on my iPhone, iPad, or computer?
I believe it’s called the library?
And my books? That Kindle doesn’t work unless I turn it on.
See my last answer. They will refer you to something called a hardbound book.
I’m beginning to see a pattern here. It seems we never should turn anything on. We should just leave things on all the time.
I wouldn’t try that with your stove, unless you have good fire insurance.
So we should always keep everything off?
Now you’re on.
I believe you’re off.
That makes sense. It supports my position.
Now, I get it. This whole conversation is a joke. I’m on to you.
Exactly what I said – You’re on.
I’m going to try to forget the conversation ever happened. I’m out of here.
Actually, you are in here at this moment.
Out-In, Off-On. NO!!!!!!
So glad we could have this chat.
