This week\u2019s Writer\u2019s Playshop spark was – In the Life<\/em><\/div>\n
We were asked to write about a day in the life of one of the following:<\/em><\/div>\n
Stuffed animal, Dollar bill, Free-floating balloon, Dragon, Sad Clown, Shopping cart, Cell phone, or Question mark.\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n

All Those Questions<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Can I write about a question mark?<\/p>\n

Why would you want to write about a question mark?<\/em><\/p>\n

Wouldn\u2019t I have to, if the story prompt were to write about a day in the life of a question mark?<\/p>\n

Why choose a question mark? Don\u2019t you like Dragon, which was also on the list?<\/em><\/p>\n

Why not try something different, since I\u2019ve written about dragons before?<\/p>\n

When a question mark was listed, did you think at all before you chose to write about it?<\/em><\/p>\n

Isn\u2019t that what I\u2019m doing now?<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t you have to decide to do something before you do it?<\/em><\/p>\n

Does it matter how I decided to write this piece?<\/p>\n

Who am I to question the great writer\u2019s muse?<\/em><\/p>\n

What does my muse have to do with a choice I make?<\/p>\n

Isn\u2019t your muse the one who always guides your writing?<\/em><\/p>\n

What makes you think that I can\u2019t write a whole piece without the help of others?<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t you think that using reference materials when you write some of your stories counts as help from others?<\/em><\/p>\n

Who cares whether I get help or not?<\/p>\n

Doesn\u2019t it depend on who you present it to?<\/em><\/p>\n

Do you think I\u2019m not aware that how I present this writing is going to be an issue?<\/p>\n

Why not just read it out loud?<\/em><\/p>\n

Then, how will I convey that two different voices are conversing, not just one continuous inner dialogue?<\/p>\n

Haven\u2019t you used different voices before, in your storytelling?<\/em><\/p>\n

What does storytelling have to do with this?<\/p>\n

Isn\u2019t storytelling a form of presenting one\u2019s writing?<\/em><\/p>\n

Could I get someone else to read it with me instead of acting it out with voices?<\/p>\n

Wouldn\u2019t that be a tandem piece of writing, not yours alone?<\/em><\/p>\n

Is something read the same as something written? Does reading someone who can\u2019t be there\u2019s writing to a writing group make us co-authors?<\/p>\n

Why are we continuing this conversation? Don\u2019t you have to present a piece of writing to your group today?<\/em><\/p>\n

Is it that time already?<\/p>\n

Aren\u2019t you the guy with the smart watch?<\/em><\/p>\n

So, what do I say about a day in the life of a question mark?<\/p>\n

What do question marks do all day?<\/em><\/p>\n

Wouldn\u2019t they ask a lot of questions?<\/p>\n

Isn\u2019t that what we just did?<\/em><\/p>\n
