The writing spark was Everyday Joys. The prompt\u00a0 I chose was \u2013 Write about a character who does not appreciate the good things in their life. What happens? We had 25 minutes.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Thoughts<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Nothing ever goes right!<\/span><\/p>\n

No matter how hard I try<\/span><\/p>\n

The faucet just won\u2019t stop dripping<\/span><\/p>\n

The rain will not water my plants<\/span><\/p>\n

Water fills the basement<\/span><\/p>\n

I have no control<\/span><\/p>\n

Mosquitoes buzz just to taunt me<\/span><\/p>\n

Bites turn to red,\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

They itch<\/span><\/p>\n

The protection is useless<\/span><\/p>\n

Now the bread rises<\/span><\/p>\n

And now it flops<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve done nothing different<\/span><\/p>\n

Things constantly change<\/span><\/p>\n

This world is a mess<\/span><\/p>\n

They say my vote counts<\/span><\/p>\n

I write and post, but who reads?<\/span><\/p>\n

Why won\u2019t the obvious prevail?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Then night comes<\/span><\/p>\n

Music fills my ears<\/span><\/p>\n

Dreams demand gratitude<\/span><\/p>\n

The emptiness begins to lessen<\/span><\/p>\n

Granules of hope take root<\/span><\/p>\n

Your wife, your child, your friends<\/span><\/p>\n

Your nature, your perseverance, your life<\/span><\/p>\n

You hold the power of change<\/span><\/p>\n

Though small, it\u2019s within<\/span><\/p>\n

You find solace<\/span><\/p>\n

Stay the course<\/span><\/p>\n

Let worries diminish<\/span><\/p>\n

Find joy in what you have<\/span><\/p>\n
