The Secret Garden<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Adapted from my memories of <\/span><\/i>The Secret Garden<\/span><\/i> by Frances Hodgson Burnett<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I have a secret garden. It covers lots of ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

There should be lots of flowers. But weeds grow all around.<\/span><\/p>\n

I have no time to tend it. I\u2019ve left it way too long.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now I\u2019m too sick to go there. You see, I\u2019m not that strong.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There is a wall around it. A lock that\u2019s on its gate.<\/span><\/p>\n

So no one else can bother. To fix its awful state.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And tell me that I\u2019m foolish. Go out and feel the sun.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019d rather stay here angry. Who wants to smile, have fun?<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But then she came and found the gate and also found the key.<\/span><\/p>\n

And opened up my private place, and woe what she did see.<\/span><\/p>\n

But did she lock it up again? And leave it to decay?<\/span><\/p>\n

Oh no, she tended and replanted things in secret every day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And as the season passed along, the seeds she planted grew.<\/span><\/p>\n

And I just lay in bed forlorn, not having any clue,<\/span><\/p>\n

Of what\u2019d been done, to build anew that place that I had hid.<\/span><\/p>\n

That place abandoned long ago, the one I wished to rid.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But then, one day she came to me and made me stand up tall.<\/span><\/p>\n

And led me to that secret place that hid behind the wall.<\/span><\/p>\n

I did not want to go inside. I\u2019d better, she advised.<\/span><\/p>\n

I hobbled after her, quite mad. But then, was I surprised!<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The garden was quite wonderful, exactly as I\u2019d dreamed.<\/span><\/p>\n

The colors, scents, and beauty. \u201cBut how? And who?\u201d I screamed!<\/span><\/p>\n

She claimed it was but she alone, \u201cIt\u2019s yours,\u201d she let me know.<\/span><\/p>\n

I didn\u2019t quite know what to say. But said, \u201cYou should not go.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are now friends, I\u2019m sick no more, because of her, I\u2019m well.<\/span><\/p>\n

The garden is our place to be, to play, to talk, to dwell.<\/span><\/p>\n

And it\u2019s no longer secret. Come join us here and stay<\/span><\/p>\n
